KACST's Ithraa Program at JCEP is a summer research enrichment program conducted in collaboration with Mawhiba, in which top Saudi high school students from throughout the Kingdom carry out university-level research in KACST's joint centers of excellence under the mentorship of research faculty at KACST's JCEP program.
In KACST's Ithraa program, we introduce students to the transformative potential of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM fields), and engage them in real-world projects that contribute towards inspiring them to pursue further education and careers in these fields. Students work in state-of-the-art laboratories under the guidance of JCEP research faculty at KACST, while participating in holistic activities that combine theory modules of learning, hands-on research, and extracurricular activities.
The KACST Ithraa Program is the first STEM summer program for high school students in Saudi Arabia to combine applied research with STEM modules in Joint Centers of Excellence with international partner institutions. KACST's Ithraa Program is a gateway to future studies via KACST scholarship programs for undergraduate studies abroad, and is aimed at developing the next generation of researchers, scientists and technology leaders for Saudi Arabia.
Immersing Students in Research at KACST
KACST's JCEP faculty members play a vital role as mentors for Ithraa students, developing independent research projects for them and working closely with them throughout the intensive three-week program. The projects immerse students in research while giving them an opportunity to work with graduate students and research faculty from partner institutions in JCEP, learning first-hand about a research career.
